The Perishables Products Export Control Board (PPECB), South Africa’s official export certification agency for the perishable produce industry, has welcomed a new Board as from February 2020. During the first sitting of the Board, a new Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson was elected. The PPECB is therefore proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Clive Garrett as Chairperson and Dr. Charlotte Nkuna as Vice-Chairperson, effective from 12 March 2020.
“Both Mr. Garrett and Dr. Nkuna bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are certainly looking forward to working with them” said Lucien Jansen, Chief Executive Officer of the PPECB.
Mr. Garrett joined the PPECB Board during 2016 and served as the chairperson of the Board’s Audit committee until January 2020. He represents the subtropical fruit industry on the PPECB Board. He currently holds the position of Marketing Manager at ZZ2 and is a Director of the South African Avocado Growers Association, also serving on their market development committee. He was previously the Financial Director of Katope. Mr. Garrett holds a B.Com, B.Compt (Hons), CA (SA) and MBL.
Dr Charlotte Nkuna was elected to serve on the PPECB Board from February 2020, representing organised agriculture. She has wide experience in the poultry industry, gained in a career spanning over two decades; and has held several influential positions since she graduated as a veterinary surgeon. Before moving to her current position as General Manager of Veterinary Wildlife Services at SANParks, she worked with various animal health organisation and veterinary services in South Africa and the United Kingdom; held positions at commercial poultry farms and at the South African Poultry Association, eventually becoming SAPA’s interim CEO and Senior Executive Eggs. She has both a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, and a Master’s in Business Administration.
