Anton Kruger

Chairperson

He was elected in 2026 as Ministerial Representative. Anton has experience in stakeholder management as well as executive management experience in various industries, including tertiary education, broadcasting, financial services, and agriculture. In the agriculture industry, he was the CEO of the Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum (FPEF) for 14 years from 2012 until 31 December 2025. Prior to this role he was the CEO of the South African Ostrich Business Chamber.

During his tenure at the FPEF, his core responsibilities, amongst others, were to address market access matters, logistical affairs such as the ports, the Regulatory environment and generic international market development to ensure the growth of a sustainable and profitable fresh produce export industry.

He served on various Boards, including for two terms as a Board member of the Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB), Fruit South Africa (including Chairperson), was Chairperson of the Management Committee of the Post-harvest Innovation (PHI) programme (a joint programme between industry and the Department of Science and Technology) and founder member of Agri-HUB (digital information platform).

He was a founder member of the Fruit Industry Value Chain Roundtable (FIVCRT) which is a platform where the industry and Government jointly address challenges and seek solutions, the Citrus Black Spot (CBS) Stakeholders’ Forum, Joint Marketing Forums of the various fruit types.

Internationally, he served on the South African Country Council of the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA = Produce Marketing Association) and as President, Vice-President, and executive Committee member of SHAFFE (Southern Hemisphere Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters).

Anton holds an MBA-degree as well as a BA Honours, Geography degree, Higher Education Diploma, and a diploma in Investment Management.

Bonga Mavume

Vice-Chairperson

He was elected in 2026 to represent the marine industry. Founder and MD of the Nalitha Fishing Group, he has over 20 years of executive managerial experience in the food manufacturing and agriculture sector. He started his career in Pioneer Foods’ Agriculture and Baking Division in 1997 before moving to RCL Foods, Rainbow Chicken and later to the Baking Division of RCL.

He also spent two years at Oceana Group Limited before founding Nalitha Fishing Group in 2017. He holds a BSc Agric (Honours) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

Jill Atwood-Palm

She was elected in 2026 to represent processed products. Jill serves as the General Manager of both the South African Fruit and Vegetable Canners Export Council (SAFVCEC) and its industry association (SAFVCA). With more than 25 years of senior executive experience in Agro-Processing and Fine Foods Manufacturing, she brings deep sector expertise and proven leadership to the industry.

Beginning her career in Human Resources at a major multinational food-processing company, Jill developed extensive international experience that positioned her strongly when she joined the Export Council and Association in 2006.

Her core strengths span strategic facilitation, global trade, international relations, stakeholder engagement, and industry advocacy – capabilities that directly support the sector’s long-term growth, competitiveness, and sustainability.

Jill contributes actively to key agri-business structures, including the Department of Agriculture’s Trade Forum (ATF), the DTIC’s Team Export South Africa (TESA), the Western Cape Government’s Agro-Processing Technical Forum and Market Access Work Group, and CPUT’s Food Science Advisory Council.

Albert Coetzee

He was elected in 2026 to represent the citrus industry. Albert is a data-driven agricultural economist with extensive experience across South Africa’s citrus and table grape value chains. He currently serves as Industry Affairs Manager at the Citrus Growers Association of Southern Africa (CGA), where he leads strategic initiatives focused on business intelligence and strategic analytics within the citrus sector. He plays a key role in guiding the citrus industry’s response to evolving international sustainability regulations across export markets.

Prior to joining the CGA, Albert held an operational role at one of the country’s major citrus and grape producers and exporters, overseeing financial management, infrastructure development, labour planning, and multi-site operational performance.

With a background spanning technical production, marketing, logistics, and agricultural economics, Albert brings a strategic, data-driven approach to industry challenges. He is recognised for his strong analytical capabilities, cross-functional leadership, and commitment to advancing sustainable, competitive growth in the South African fruit sector.

Jacques du Preez

He was elected in 2026 to represent the pome and stone fruit industry. Jacques is a market development generalist with over 20 years’ experience in market access and trade in South Africa’s agricultural sector, primarily in the deciduous fruit industry.

Currently serving as General Manager: Trade & Markets at HORTGRO, he is responsible for international market access, trade policy, logistics, and stakeholder engagement. Jacques has proven expertise in negotiating phytosanitary compliance, facilitating new market entry, and maintaining access to strategic export destinations across the globe. Furthermore, he is an expert in international market access, export strategy, regulatory and phytosanitary issues and is skilled at managing stakeholder relations with growers, government, and international partners in order to grow fruit exports and open new markets.

He is an experienced leader, industry spokesperson, and active contributor to industry, national and international forums.

In his current role at HORTGRO, Jacques’ focus is on enhancing coordination between industry role players to identify, address and communicate trends and shocks to industry stakeholders and pursue opportunities. Close collaboration with various government departments is also crucial in the process.

Jacques is a Stellenbosch and Free State University alumnus who graduated with agricultural economics and horticulture as main subjects and obtained an honours degree in agricultural economics from the University of the Free State.

Lindie Stroebel

She was elected in 2026 to represent the subtropical fruit industry. Lindie is a senior agribusiness executive with extensive experience in the fresh produce and export sectors, with a particular focus on the global avocado industry. She has been actively involved in serving South Africa’s agri-sector through various leadership and industry roles.

She holds an MSc Agric (Agricultural Economics) with distinction from the University of the Free State and has gained international exposure through academic programmes in the United States and the Netherlands. Lindie has held senior positions at Agbiz (Agricultural Business Chamber) and the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) South Africa. Since 2020, she has served as South Africa Country Manager for Mission Produce, a Nasdaq-listed global leader in avocado sourcing, ripening, distribution, and marketing. In this role, she is responsible for establishing and expanding Mission Produce’s South African supply footprint in partnership with ZZ2 and Core Fruit.

Michael Vorster

He was elected in 2026 to represent the table grape industry. Michael has more than 20 years’ experience in table grape farming and marketing. He is the Chairperson of the Hex Valley Table Grape Association (HTA) and serves as Vice Chairperson of both South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) and Agri Western Cape Labour. In addition, he is the owner of Grape Alliance Marketing and Grape Alliance Grow, where he is actively involved in the production and marketing of table grapes.

Werner van Rooyen

He was elected in 2026 to represent the pome and stone fruit industry. Werner has over 15 years of experience in the agricultural export value chain, relating to information, markets and trade, logistics, stakeholder management and industry advocacy. He holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at the Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum and serves as Director of Agri-Hub and Chairperson of the Fruit Industry Value Chain Roundtable – Resources Workgroup.

Pheladi Tlomatsane

She was elected in 2026 to represent the citrus industry. With more than 15 years experience, she currently works in Compliance Management at Zebediela Fruits and represents the CGA-GDC.

She has served on the Board of Bjatladi Zebediela Marketing Enterprise and holds a Degree in Marketing, a National Diploma in Human Resource Management and a certificate in Business Management.

Lucien Jansen

Chief Executive Officer

He began his career at the PPECB in 2005 when he was appointed as Regional Service Manager for the Western Cape. In 2010 he was appointed as Manager to the PPECB’s Project Management office, focusing on introducing a Project  Management framework to manage strategic projects for the PPECB as well as coordinating Organisational Performance.

In 2013 he took up the role of General Manager: Corporate Affairs before being appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in 2015. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Stellenbosch.

Cyril Julius

Chief Operations Officer

He joined the PPECB as Programme Manager: Citrus in September 2004 and was later appointed as General Manager: Statutory Operations Coastal. In April 2016 Cyril assumed the role of Chief Operations Officer. He was previously employed as Assistant Director: Perishable Products at the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF).

Cyril holds a National Diploma in Food Technology from Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Bridgette Daries

Chief Information Officer

She joined PPECB as CIO in September 2024. Prior to joining PPECB, her ICT career spanned 27 years at a Global Petro Chemical company followed by 20 months with a Global Automotive company. She has served on a number of Boards and has a proven track record of delivering large, complex ICT solutions that transform and enable business strategies. She is passionate about people especially the youth and making a difference in the country.

Along with various technical ICT certifications, she holds a National Diploma in IT from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and has attended various leadership and director programmes.

Pinki Luwaca

Human Resources Executive

She joined the PPECB in 2010 as an Organisational Development Manager and was promoted to General Manager: Human Resources in 2013. Pinki is a qualified social worker and holds an Honours Degree in Human Resources from the University of Johannesburg.

Pinki has extensive work experience with welfare organisations and NGOs, as well as in the retail and financial sectors.

Aneesa Moosa-Camroodien

Chief Financial Officer

She joined the PPECB in October 2007, as Financial Accountant. Over the past 18 years, her responsibilities have expanded to include oversight of additional departments, providing her with broad exposure to the organisations’ financial and operational environment.

She holds a B.Com. Accounting degree, has completed articles and is registered with SAICA as an Associate General Accountant – AGA(SA).
