The Nationwide Lockdown that came into effect on 26 March 2020 has since been downgraded to an Alert Level 4. Although Level 4 does allow for limited movement and some activities to resume, it is important that we adhere to the measures introduced by Government to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.
As a National Public Entity, the PPECB delivers mandatory Inspection, Cold Chain, Food Safety and Analytical Laboratory Services for the Perishable Produce Export Industry and will therefore continue to do so during Alert Level 4. The following measures have however been introduced in line with the published regulations:
Visit to PPECB Offices
The safety of our staff and clients remain our top priority. Although all PPECB offices will be open during this time, we request that you make an appointment before visiting the office. The person whom you have an appointment with, will receive you at reception. You will also be requested to complete a short questionnaire (preferably in advance) and undergo a screening process on arrival. The information provided will be treated as confidential. All staff will also continue to be available on their mobile devices.
The wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
When you visit any PPECB office, please ensure that you wear a suitable mask. Unfortunately, nobody will be allowed into the building without a mask or appropriate face covering as required by law. All PPECB staff will continue to wear PPE as issued by the PPECB.
Hygiene
All PPECB offices have been equipped with hand sanitisers. Please sanitise your hands upon entering as well as when you leave PPECB offices. Sufficient quantities of sanitisers will be available. All offices, surfaces and devices will be cleaned more frequently. The PPECB will also continue to practice social distancing at all our offices. For this reason, those people that can work from home, will continue to do so. Those staff members that cannot do so, will come to the office based on an agreed schedule to ensure a conducive working environment in terms of the relevant regulations.
Deliveries
A new area for all courier deliveries to the PPECB Head Office in Plattekloof has been allocated. We kindly request that all deliveries be channelled to the new receiving area where a dedicated PPECB staff member will receive the goods. Please follow the signs when entering the premises.
Notwithstanding the above, the PPECB assures you that all essential services will continue uninterrupted. The relevant contingency plans will be activated in the event where we suspect any of our staff have been infected or been in contact with someone infected with COVID-19.
Thank you for your understanding and we trust that we can count on your cooperation during these trying times. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by these arrangements.
Yours Sincerely,
Lucien Jansen
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
