In 2009 the PPECB launched its ethics hotline in order to promote the ethical conduct of its employees, board members and industry stakeholders. The purpose of this platform is to encourage and enable the reporting of any suspected incidents of fraud, corruption or unethical practices related to the PPECB, its role as an assignee in terms of the Agricultural Products Standards Act, or any incidents which may affect the orderly and efficient export of perishable products from South Africa.

As the hotline is hosted by an external service provider it operates independently to ensure objectivity and the anonymity of all callers. Each caller shall have the option to elect to remain anonymous and this option shall be explained to the caller upon making the call.

It is the responsibility of each caller to provide sufficient detail to the external service provider when reporting suspected incidents of fraud, corruption or unethical practices to enable the PPECB to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident. The PPECB views this platform as vital to ensure the ethical leadership of the PPECB and as such consistently seeks methods to enhance it ethics hotline and reporting system.

As of 1 November 2018 the PPECB has appointed a new service provider to manage the hotline, namely Whistle Blowers (https://www.whistleblowing.co.za/). In addition to providing a toll free number, Whistle Blowers also makes provision for a number of additional platforms that can be utilised to report incidents of ethical misconduct. These platforms include:

Toll Free Number: 0800 111 605
Email: ppecb@whistleblowing.co.za
Toll Free Fax: 0800 212 689
Postal: FREEPOST KZN665, MUSGRAVE, 4062
SMS: 33490
Online: www.whistleblowing.co.za

If you suspect any incident of fraud, corruption or unethical practices, please contact Whistle Blowers on one of the above platforms to report it. We request that industry stakeholders create awareness with their members on the PPECB ethics hotline and the purpose of the hotline as discussed above.
